Dissociation Group

A group for people with complex developmental trauma (childhood trauma) disorders such as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD). These dissociative disorders develop in childhood and are the result of experiencing traumatic events during childhood that disrupted the person’s personality and sense of self. The effects of experiencing these childhood events continue into adulthood. The Dissociation Group covers a wide range of topics, including safety, emotional regulation, social anxiety, addictions, self-harm, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.

We will teach, discuss, introduce, and explain:

  • practical solutions to daily dissociative problems
  • dissociation and other trauma-related symptoms in basic language
  • how to work with and understand dissociative parts of yourself in a rational manner
  • essential ideas and themes useful to your healing from dissociation and trauma
  • practical skills to help you manage in daily life

Summer Activity Therapy Group

DBT Summer Activity Therapy Groups are tailored specifically for 11-13 year olds, and 14-18 year olds. They are designed to help teens develop crucial skills in emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. Our summer program takes the principles of DBT and infuses them into a fun and interactive activity setting. Each of our 4 DBT summer groups are held for 2 weeks.

The 4 DBT Summer Activity Therapy Groups are:

  • Distress Tolerance – Dealing with Tough Feelings and Situations Without Getting Overwhelmed
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness – The Secret Code to Unlocking Better Friendships and Smoother Conversations
  • Emotion Regulation – Managing Big Emotions in a Healthy Way
  • Walk The Middle Path – Staying Balanced When Life Gets Wobbly

Here’s what your child can expect to experience this summer:

Skill-Building Activities: Engaging games and exercises designed to teach and reinforce DBT skills in a supportive environment.
Mindfulness Practices: Guided mindfulness sessions and activities to help your teen develop awareness and cope with stress in healthy ways.
Creative Expression: Opportunities for artistic expression through various mediums, fostering creativity and emotional exploration.
Peer Support: A chance to connect with peers in a safe and welcoming space, learning from each other’s experiences and perspectives.
