Have you ever had a panic attack? Are you someone that struggles with anxiety? Here is a tip to help reduce anxiety! Fill a bigger bowl up with room temp water and place about 8 ice cubes in the water. Hold your breath, and dunk your face in that water. Do your best to count in your mind to 30 seconds, and then come back up for air. Repeat if needed!
This technique is called ice diving and it’s REALLY effective becasue it’s fast acting, it’s free, AND it’s not addictive like most anti-anxiety medication. We at the DBT Center suggest putting a resealable bag of ice in your freezer, or use a gel pack that can be frozen. When using that method, place the bag on the neck (front or back) or on the face. Try it out!
